All Tone LP 198x produced and arranged by Alton Ellis
Backed by Roots Radical Band, The Black Stones, Jackie Mittoo and The Undivided Roots
So there you have it.
Stages In Life, great rare album issued on Alton Ellis' own record label All Tone. Stages In Life, (not to be confused with Stage Coach Showcase album by Dennis Brown) has many killers and also a few fillers that I won't discuss.
"Mr Skabena" is already known (Many Moods Of Alton Ellis) and the title song of the album by Dennis Brown has the same backing track as Alton Ellis' beautiful earlier released "Truly". Alton's son singer Noel Ellis is also present with a very relaxed sunshiny "Easy Skanking". Gene Rondo sings a strong kinda medley cover combining Bob Marleys "Crazy Baldheads" with "Running Away". Who is Copy Contre? He sounds like Alton Ellis himself. "Diverse Doctrine" is a massive track, which if I were the producer would have placed A1, but it's the last song on the album.
This album is so rare that even Alton Ellis forgot about it. But anyway, I'm happy to present to you this Jamaican scorcher in mp3 format and hope you will enjoy it too.
